Yesterday was the day we started out with excitement, leaving the house at 7:45 am- that is early for the both of us. We were off to the Best Start Birthing Center to have our 20 week ultrasound...that means to find out the gender! I really can't explain the excitement. I had been looking forward to this day for the past 5 weeks, if not even longer. I have been imagining the day and just how it would go- including the experience of drinking 32 oz and water and not peeing before the ultrasound. It isn't my favorite feeling, but considering the circumstances, completely worth it!
As we were about 1/2 way to the appointment, which was quite a ways figuring we have to drive about 25 minutes to get there, I got a message on my phone. Jared listened to it, since I was driving. When I heard the words "reschedule your ultrasound" I was completely disappointed.I couldn't really think happy thoughts. Since I had a regular check up, we continued on to the birth center. It may have just been the over-arching disappointment I was feeling, but the entire experience there was not so good. The mid-wife seemed to be not-so-knowledgeable- stuttering through her questions, not really providing any information, taking forever to find the heartbeat, looking at a chart and asking "did I get everything" as if she wasn't sure all she should be checking on me. Luckily I remembered to ask her for the referral for an ultrasound from another place because I sure didn't want to wait until next week. THEN, as I was standing at the front desk to reschedule the ultrasound for the following week and for my next check up, I waited and waited and waited. Until Jared came up to the counter and asked what I was doing- apparently he was looking at the lady that was suppose to be doing the scheduling because she was on the phone. That must have caught her attention because then she asked the person on the phone if they could hold, and as she put the phone down she said, "Sorry, I am trying to take care of some airline tickets." WHAT? What kind of customer care is that? Needless to say, we both walked out of the office talking about the lame experience that was. I immediately called the number on the referral slip- XDI Ultrasound. I talked with a nice lady that scheduled me for the next day and brought my spirits up a bit.
So this morning when I woke up, I went through the same feelings, but even more intensified because I had now waited even a day longer than originally anticipated. This time we took Corban with us, so we had the whole family together. As we drove up to the building- a converted home in the University Heights area, I was very impressed. Walking in the door was another positive experience, with a very nice lady behind the counter, giving me her full attention, a sweet couple sitting in the waiting area looking at some pictures and being all excited. It just felt right.
The ultrasound tech, Sergio, was more than personal and friendly. He was very clean cut, nicely dressed and had mannerisms to match. He made the entire experience OUR own experience- with everything was suspend-release type humor. I didn't feel like I was having a medical exam being done both because of the non-technical way in which he talked and because of how he showed and explained everything that we wanted him to.
It was seriously the most PERFECT miracle to have follow the previous day's disappointment. It just goes to show how God knows what he is doing- we just have to wait, or be patient long enough for him to prove the happy ending. And to top the perfect experience, I didn't have to drink the 32 oz of water before hand :)
Here's what else has been happening:
Corban has a new table that he LOVES to sit at for meals. His little legs are so cute when he kicks them while sitting there. So little, yet so big!
He also has this fascination with boxes lately. They keep him busy for quite sometime because there is no limit as to how many times you can get in and out of a box. It started with the Free Day when I put him in a box and drug him around the store to keep him entertained for a while.
Is this not so sweet?
And isn't this even sweeter? I sure do love my boys!

PS Kyle is sitting here and wanted me to tell you that he thought it was very cool of you to come out for our wedding.
SO DID I!
Um, so did you find out if it's a boy or a girl? Or are you trying to keep us in suspense? I just realized last week you're only 9 weeks behind me in your pregnancy, I thought it was more for some reason. Also, are you going through a birthing center with midwives this time? Would love to hear your thoughts about your decision. I'm glad your second ultrasound experience was so much more pleasant, have a fabulous week!
Okay! It's definitely time to get on the phone and talk!! We tried to call Sunday, but you were busy. We'd love to know what you're having!! Are you going to call us or what?? The suspense is killing me!
Congrats! I am so glad the other apt went so well, I had no idea how bad the first one was! Are you still going to use that same birthing center?
